Renewable energy specialists, Geo Green Power, welcomed local residents to their offices at Bradmore Business Park on 29 January 2025 to share their expertise and answer questions from the local community about the latest renewable technology.
The evening was arranged in partnership with the Bunny Energy Solutions Committee, a local group whose aim is to empower Bunny village and surrounding areas with locally-driven decarbonization and sustainable energy solutions that align with national Net-Zero initiatives.
Geo Green Power, Managing Director, James Cunningham said: “When we were contacted by the BESC about arranging a talk to the local community on the benefits of renewable technology such as solar panels, heat pumps and battery storage, we were delighted to support.
“Before being based here in Bunny, our offices were in Wysall, just five minutes down the road and we very much feel that we are part of the local community, with many local customers and employees. We saw this as a fantastic opportunity to support a forward-looking initiative and increase understanding of renewable energy in the wider community.”
During the evening the Geo Green Power team spoke to attendees about the different renewable technologies available and how they could support a more sustainable and cost-effective home. A range of literature was available to take away and an opportunity for local home owners to ask lots of questions.
The BESC’s Vivienne Keller-Garnett added: “We’re very grateful to James and the team for giving up their time to host this event. It was a great opportunity for members of the local community to learn more about renewable energy from the experts. The evening was very informative, and I’m confident that many of the people attending will be thinking seriously about how they can benefit from this technology whilst becoming more sustainable and reducing their impact on the planet.”
Member’s of the Geo Green Power team present included system designers and technical engineers who were able to answer questions about the suitability of roofs for solar, whether all battery systems provide back-up power and how the cost of running a heat pump compares to a gas boiler. Future events are planned.
The BESC is a working group, established and supported by Bunny Parish Council, to give consideration to a range of potential opportunities to contribute to a Net-Zero energy solution for as many households in the village as are willing to participate. Formed in 2022 the group currently has seven members which includes two Parish Councillors.
The BESC has six objectives:
- To maximise home insulation.
- To devise schemes to provide sustainable home heating and hot water.
- To use solar and wind power to provide sustainable electricity.
- To achieve government subsidies to reward households for their contribution to Net-Zero.
- To set up a not-for-profit Bunny Energy Company overseen by the Parish Council to facilitate the management, servicing, funding and development of the scheme.
- To work with Local Authority and Government partnerships to provide information, support and advice.
