As the days are getting shorter, and the year is coming to an end, we thought it was a good time to share our news! In addition to our many solar PV and air-source heat pump installations and completing 100s of regular maintenance and service visits, we’ve opened an office in Cornwall, attended the CN awards, expanded our team and installed solar on our own roof!
We continue to strive toward sustainability and support our customers on their journey to net zero and energy price security. As always, our trusted team are available to answer any queries you may have regarding your existing or potential installation.
Our own solar PV installation
After moving to our new head office, we’ve practised what we preach and installed our own solar panels to reduce our carbon footprint and energy bills! In July, one of our dedicated site teams spent a week installing our PV system ready for us to generate our own solar energy.
Since installation, our 60kW system has already generated nearly 13,000kWh of clean electricity – which is the equivalent of driving one of our company Tesla cars around the world twice!
Even more impressive, after 18 months our system will have generated enough power to drive one of our Teslas to the moon and back!
Meet our team!
Since our last update, we have welcomed a number of new faces into #TeamGeoGreen and as usual we’d like to introduce some of our team to you.
Our growing business has made it possible for us to hire a dedicated SHEQ Manager (Safety, Health, Environmental Quality) and in September, we welcomed Graham. He is responsible for monitoring all safety and quality aspects of the business.
In his spare time, Graham is a National Trust member and Campaign for Real Ale member. He also enjoys collecting sporting memorabilia and has travelled to 35 countries so far. Unfortunately though, he is an Arsenal Season Ticket holder…
Although Mark joined us a while ago, we haven’t introduced him to you as of yet. Mark joined us in 2022 as Technical Director and manages our installation teams. He ensures that our installations comply with electrical regulations and that we are continually reviewing our processes and procedures as well as improving efficiency on site.
Mark loves to travel around Europe and bike around the Derbyshire Dales in his spare time.
Rowen joined the Marketing team in April 2024 as a Copywriter. Her job involves writing website content and case studies, managing the company’s social media activity and compiling press releases, blogs and newsletters like this one!
Outside of work, she is part of a Trampoline and Gymnastics club and enjoys going to the gym and spending time with friends and family.
The CN Awards
In September, 10 of us traded our tools for black ties and attended the Construction News Specialist Awards in London to celebrate being shortlisted in the ‘Contractor of the Year’ category. After submitting our entry, Managing Director, James, and electrical foreman, Wayne, attended a live judging panel to discuss our nomination which focused on our exceptional customer service, our own sustainability as a company and a focus on continuous improvement throughout our operations.
Our category was open to any specialist contracting company, with an annual turnover of up to £25 million, that have achieved outstanding outcomes between January 2023 and April 2024.
Geo Green Power on tour!
In September, we attended the East Midlands Chamber of Commerce Sustainability Summit at the University of Derby, where we partnered with Auditel to sponsor the event. Our Managing Director, James, ran a workshop entitled ‘Is the sun still shining on solar panels?’ which helped his audience understand the continuing benefits of investing in solar PV and gain an insight into how the renewable energy market has developed over the last 15 years.
Later on in the month, Solar and Storage Live 2024 welcomed James back on stage this time at the NEC, Birmingham. James shared an update on a project we’re delivering with GeoPura to power an electrolyser with solar PV and generate green hydrogen. James’s talk focused on how we must all think beyond “the grid” to truly decarbonise our economies and get renewable energy to where it’s needed.
Coming soon…seaside solar!
We’re very excited to have taken on the lease at a new office in Cornwall to help us service the South West region and provide better accessibility for potential customers.
Watch this space…we cannot wait to expand our network!
