Why choose Geo Green Power for your heat pump installation?
Our central location provides us with a nationwide reach and our inhouse team of experts can support you with everything from system design, local planning permission and DNO connection right through to installation and ongoing servicing, and planned maintenance into the future.
Geo Green Power’s large team of experts includes renewable energy installers, fully qualified electricians and renewable heating engineers. If you want to combine your heat pump installation with other renewable technology such as solar panels or battery storage, we can deliver a one-stop-shop for all of your requirements.
We regularly work with new build projects and understand the need to be accommodating when installing air-source heat pumps. We can schedule our plant room fit to slot into your build programme and will ensure that underfloor heating, pipework and radiators are installed before floors are laid and plasterboard is fitted to deliver a perfect finish. Electrical works will be scheduled appropriately and commissioning lined up for when services are connected.
As an MCS accredited installer, we will ensure that all your heat pump, solar panel and battery storage systems meet regulatory requirements and that homeowners can claim SEG and BUS if eligible.
Planning permission and building regulations
Geo Green Power are MCS registered, a mark of quality that sets the standards for low-carbon energy technology products and their installations. Being MCS registered means that we’re eligible for the BUS (Boiler Upgrade Scheme) and can claim £7,500 towards an air-source heat pump on the customer’s behalf.
The built environment accounts for around 25% of the UK’s emissions and is, therefore, a key focus for the UK’s Net Zero programme. The government’s Future Homes Standard sets out ambitious plans to improve the energy performance of new homes. Expected to come into force in 2025, the Future Homes Standard will require homes to have low-carbon heat and be zero carbon ready.
Choosing the correct sized ASHP for a new or self-build property
Generally, the bigger your home, the larger the air source heat pump system needed. However, other requirements involving heat loss levels, the property’s age and the number of rooms can effect the size of the air-source heat pump.
Calculating the size of an air-source heat pump for a new-build property is easy to calculate because the level of insulation will be up to the agreed level due to UK building regulations. This allows the level of heat loss to be worked out accurately, so the size of the heat pump needed is straightforward to estimate.

Advantages of an ASHP
Although expensive to install, air-source heat pump installations are a sensible long-term investment:
They produce a lower amount of carbon dioxide in comparison to traditional heating systems which reduces your home's carbon footprint.
Their energy efficiency and low maintenance costs make them highly cost-effective over their lifetime.
The UK Government is offering a grant of up to £7,500 through the Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS) to homeowners looking to install a heat pump in a new build home or change their fossil fuel heating to an ASHP or similar low carbon heating system.
Can I get a grant for an air-source heat pump in a new/self-build
The national Boiler Upgrade Scheme is the most common grant available for air-source heat pump installations, available for retrofit, owners of new homes and self-builds.
Heat pumps are much more sustainable than traditional gas or oil boilers, which is why the government is funding the Boiler Upgrade Scheme, as part of their net zero strategy, to incentive people to swap out fossil fuel heating. The BUS provides eligible homes with a £7,500 grant to assist them in replacing their old gas or oil boiler with a low carbon heat pump; or install a heat pump in a new property.
If you choose to install your ASHP with Geo Green Power, we offer an exclusive end to end managed installation service which includes applying for and using an eligible customers’ BUS grant. We will compile all of the required information and our trusted team will apply on behalf of the customer, managing the entire process.
If a new build property is still being developed, it is not eligible for the boiler upgrade scheme. However, if you move into a new build property with a heat pump, you may be eligible under the BUS.
In order to qualify for the Boiler Upgrade Scheme, you must hit the following requirements:
