Domestic Solar Investment

Are you interested in having your very own solar panel installation that will not only allow you to generate your very own electricity but actually make money as well? Sounds too good to be true, right? Well, it’s not.

So how does installing a solar panel system actually make you money? It’s all thanks to something called the ‘Feed in Tariff’ scheme.

Back in 2010, the UK government followed the lead of several other European countries and introduced the ‘Feed in Tariff’ scheme. In simple terms, this is a system where energy companies must offer a financial reward to those who generate their own electricity using renewable sources such as solar PV, wind turbines and thermal heat pumps. It doesn’t matter whether the energy is used by the party who produced it, or if it’s fed back into the national grid, the payment is made simply for the act of generating it. This payment scheme is guaranteed for 20 years by UK law, so don’t worry it’s not going anywhere anytime soon!

The payments from the ‘Feed in Tariff’ scheme will even increase each year in line with inflation. Also, if you’re using the electricity you generate, it means you don’t have to buy it from the energy companies, meaning you could save up to 15p per kWh at today’s prices! Any energy you don’t use will be fed back into the national grid, and you will receive around 5p per kWh, depending on your energy supplier.

This price covers everything you need to start producing your very own electricity; from the market leading solar panels, to the PV inverter, insulators and a comprehensive post-installation testing to check everything is working as it should be.

In the vast majority of cases, the answer is no, you won’t need planning permission.
