A £7,500 funding scheme is now available for qualifying boiler replacements or first-time low carbon central heating system grants, regardless of whether a property is owner inhabited, landlord & tenant or has a social housing occupant. This scheme will encourage home owners and tenants to seek an upgrade for their existing boiler to a more sustainable counterpart, with the added benefit of financial assistance. Self build new properties, which have never had a heating system installed, are also eligible.

What is the Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS) in the UK?
Heat pumps are much more sustainable than traditional gas or oil boilers. Because of this, the Boiler Upgrade Scheme provides suitable homes with a £7,500 grant to assist them in replacing their old gas or oil boiler with a low carbon heat pump.

Boiler Upgrade Scheme eligibility: Who can apply?
Most homes will meet the eligibility requirements to secure a BUS grant for their heat pump installation. To meet this criteria, you must:
Live in England or Wales
Own the property (the application must come from the owner/landlord)
Not have an existing heat pump in the heating system being replaced
Have a valid energy performance certificate (EPC)
Self-built home tenants (if you are building the house yourself, you can qualify for the scheme)

How much can you save with the Boiler Upgrade Scheme?
The amount of money saved through the Boiler Upgrade Scheme is dependent on the type of system replaced and it’s efficiency. Customers can save up to £7,500 using the scheme.
The application is made once your system is complete and the voucher is paid to the installation company who then reimburse the customer.
