A farm in Lancashire has cut down its energy bills and improved its sustainability
Choosing Solar
When Peter Wilkinson, a Farmer from Lancashire, decided that renewable energy would be a great way for his barns at Sutton Farm to generate their own power, he began to investigate options. After considering having a windmill or a digester installed, Mr Wilkinson opted for solar energy to take control of the farm’s electricity generation. Farm equipment typically uses lots of power, and large utility bills have been high due to recent market conditions. However, solar panel installations can significantly decrease future energy costs, making them a highly valuable investment.

Choosing Geo Green Power
After finding Geo Green Power through the National Farmers Union magazine, Mr. Wilkinson contacted us for a quote. Following this, we were contracted to carry out the 450kWp solar PV installation for Sutton Farm.
Our team was delighted to help Sutton Farm on its journey to generating its own energy. A pre-installation survey was conducted so that a full design and access plan could be created, the DNO connection agreement was secured, and work began. Our dedicated site team completed the project with care: from roof strengthening, through to panelling and completion of the electrical installation.

The Results
Sutton Farm’s 450kWp solar panel system is expected to generate 297,000kWh of electricity every year, enough to power 55 homes. This installation will also save 74 tonnes of CO2 emissions annually, which is the equivalent of taking 15 petrol cars off the road every year.
