Requiring an investment for the future

Established in December 2008, Derbyshire’s Bluebell Dairy is a family-friendly farm park and artisan ice cream wholesaler supplying the Midlands region. Featuring two sites for ice cream production and attractions, the company’s energy consumption encouraged Bluebell Dairy’s dedication to investing in renewable energy and improving its sustainability.

The regularly in-use freezer is responsible for a huge amount of power usage at the ice cream site, and their investment in solar power is the perfect solution for decreasing energy costs and the associated carbon footprint.

Energy cost savings are not the only commercial benefits that have inspired Bluebell Dairy to take a step towards a sustainable future. Several of their ice cream distribution companies, such as the National Trust and National Heritage, have demanded an increase in green credentials in their supply chain, and by adopting sustainable solutions, Bluebell Dairy is satisfying their suppliers and improving their own eco-friendly status.

Working with us

Geo Green Power had recently completed a successful solar installation for Director Oliver Brown’s uncle’s farm. Following this impressive project, Bluebell Dairy was very confident in our team’s dedication and efficiency and contacted us regarding their upcoming installation. Managing Director, James Cunningham, provided Oliver with their quote, and from there, the installation was completed quickly. This second great experience also led to Geo Green Power completing a heat pump installation for Oliver’s mother.

Oliver recounted his experience with Geo Green Power:

Geo Green Power has been absolutely excellent at every stage and completed the installation much quicker than we expected. They have helped us sort out the connection back to the grid and our electrical system on site. We can’t wait to see how it works and how it goes, and we can’t fault them at all; they’ve been great.”

Results

Although difficult to confirm until the installation begins running for its first full year, Oliver believes the new solar PV project will save Bluebell Dairy 2/3 of their energy bill and predicts a pay-back in 4-5 years.

By partnering with Geo Green Power, Bluebell Dairy has exhibited a commitment to innovative energy solutions, and we look forward to receiving an update on their energy and cost reduction.
