Enhancing their sustainable development

A former ribbon factory in 1843, Coventry University has evolved into one of the most prominent education facilities in the apprenticeship industry. With over 140 undergraduate courses, exciting student nightlife and international study opportunities, the award-winning institution ranks in the top 20 modern universities in the UK.

Alongside their educational values, the University recognises the threat of climate change and are committed to managing their impact on the environment. Coventry University has set clear goals to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and put challenging, yet necessary, targets in place to achieve Net Zero Carbon. One of these targets has included installing solar panels on five of their buildings. After receiving a Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme (PSDS) grant, Coventry University opted to bid for solar panel funding to showcase its planned decarbonisation journey.

What was it like working with us?

Following the solar panel funding confirmation, Coventry University conducted market research on several renewable energy companies, focusing on health and safety and previous experience, eventually narrowing it down to four companies, with Geo Green Power being one of them.

After assessing our cost and quality solutions, Geo Green Power were selected, and our careful site team installed panels on five of Coventry University’s buildings: Alma Building, The Hub, Charles Ward Building, ECB Building and The Cycle Works.

Project Manager, Paul Hinson, was incredibly impressed with our company’s efficiency and customer service, stating that:

The team at Geo Green Power were brilliant. The two site leaders in particular, Fads and Dan, were so easy to approach and any issues were dealt with immediately. They were amazing and we’d definitely work with them again.”

The sustainable results

The five combined systems are estimated to generate 306,850kWh of energy and save 76 tonnes of CO2 emissions every year. This is the equivalent of taking 15 petrol cars off the road permanently.
