Food wholesaler, JK Foods, has improved their sustainability by adding solar panels and a battery storage system to their company
Wanting to Become More Sustainable
Launched in 1976, family-owned business, JK Foods, is one of the UK’s leading importers and distributors of authentic East Asian foods- supplying Chinese restaurants, takeaways, retailers and wholesalers.
Sustainability is already a huge value of JK Foods, and this dedication is reflected in the premium packages they’ve crafted, which all have an eco-friendly approach. Following this, the company began looking for other ways to reduce its carbon footprint, considering greener energy solutions and controlling electricity consumption across the site. This led them to look into installing solar panels and a battery storage system.

Selecting Geo Green Power
JK Foods explored several different options and proposals before choosing to appoint Geo Green Power. They chose our team because of the outstanding customer service we offered, along with our honest and friendly approach throughout the consultation period. They also spoke with companies that had previous systems installed by Geo Green Power, and these customers provided good references and strongly recommended our quality of work.
Facilities Manager, Andrew Thomson, explained that JK Foods were highly impressed with our team’s work ethic and stated that:
“The team were great from start to finish, nothing was too much trouble, and they were open, honest and upfront throughout the entire process.”
The Sustainable Results
The company’s 309kWp solar PV is estimated to generate 260,500kWh of energy and will save 65 tonnes of CO2 emissions every year. This is the equivalent of taking 13 petrol cars off the road permanently. JK Foods will utilise this green energy using their 87kWh battery system.
On how the systems have been performing since the installation, Andrew Thomson added that:
“The systems are working well and we’re already seeing a higher than expected return even in the less favourable periods of the year.”
