Grantham Meres Leisure Centre has boosted its energy levels by adding solar panels to the roof

Making the Centre More Sustainable

Situated in Lincolnshire, Grantham Meres Leisure Centre provides flexible and cost-effective fitness and activity services. With a 60-station gym suite, group fitness classes and four swimming pools, the facility offers a wide range of sports for individuals and a large number of community-based clubs.

For many leisure centres, electricity prices are continuing to increase significantly. Sport England is a sports organisation administering the government’s Swimming Pool Support Fund, where leisure centres with swimming pools are given a grant for the facility to run efficiently. This was the perfect opportunity for Grantham Meres Leisure Centre to use the funds to invest in solar energy.

Working with Geo Green Power

Following a conversation with James Welland whilst working on a project for another leisure centre installation, Project Manager, Holly Jarvis, felt that Geo Green Power would be the right renewable energy company to appoint for the upcoming solar panel installation. We provided Grantham Meres Leisure Centre with a quote after we impressed them with our solar designs.

Holly was pleased with our team’s work ethic throughout the process and stated that:

“The team at Geo Green Power were brilliant. The site-workers completed the job carefully, efficiently and quickly.”

Results

The 250kWp solar PV system is estimated to generate 209,000kWh of electricity and save 46 tonnes of CO2 emissions every year. This is the equivalent of taking 9 petrol cars off the road permanently.

On how the system is currently working, Holly added that:

“The installation has been working really well and we’re very pleased with it so far.”
