Our Clients
Why Choose Solar Power for Hospitals
Operating a modern medical facility involves managing massive, non-stop electricity loads. From life-saving equipment and climate-controlled theatres to intensive IT data centres and 24/7 lighting, hospitals are among the most energy-intensive buildings in the UK. Solar power for hospitals offers a strategic solution to stabilise long-term budgets and meet ambitious NHS Net-Zero targets.

Fixed-Cost Forecasting:
Transitioning to hospital solar panels helps protect your facility from the volatility of the energy market, allowing for better reinvestment into frontline patient care.
Uninterrupted Care:
Our hospital solar installation process is designed for precision. We coordinate with facility managers to ensure zero impact on critical operations, medical deliveries, or patient services.
Rapid Financial Returns:
With high daytime energy usage, solar for hospitals typically realises an ROI in under 6 years, saving thousands in monthly grid electricity reliance.
Energy Resilience:
When paired with battery storage, solar panels for hospitals can provide a reliable backup layer, ensuring that essential systems remain powered even during grid fluctuations.

Our Healthcare & Public Sector Projects
Learn More Hospital Solar Carports: Powering the Patient Journey
For many hospitals, roof space may be occupied by complex HVAC systems or helipads. Hospital solar carports provide an innovative alternative by turning underutilised parking areas into “power plants.”
A solar carport is a dual-purpose structure that provides sheltered parking for staff and visitors while generating clean electricity overhead. These installations are particularly effective for:
EV Charging Integration: Providing the scalable power needed for a growing fleet of electric ambulances and staff vehicles.
Patient Comfort: Offering shade and protection from the elements for patients entering and exiting the facility.
Visual Sustainability: A visible, impressive commitment to green energy that enhances your hospital’s reputation with the community and staff.
Our Solar Installation Process for Hospitals
When designing your system, our expert team evaluates several key factors:
Site Geometry: Mapping out the best locations for rooftop arrays or hospital solar carports.
Consumption Profiling: Matching generation to your 24/7 load to ensure maximum self-consumption.
Critical Systems Integration: Ensuring the solar system works seamlessly with existing emergency generators and backup power.
Crucially, we prioritise safety and silence. We schedule work to avoid disrupting patient rest hours or critical clinic times, ensuring the smoothest possible transition.

Solar Funding Incentives
for UK Hospitals
By tapping into dedicated funding pools, such as the targeted £100m solar and battery storage rollout via Great British Energy, facilities can offset high daytime energy baseloads and protect operating budgets against volatile grid tariffs. Pairing high-yield rooftop arrays and solar carports with battery storage gives NHS Trusts the capability to store peak generation, power 24/7 clinical operations, and generate verifiable lifetime savings that directly support frontline patient care and long-term Net-Zero targets.
Administered by Salix Finance, the Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme provides direct grant funding to help NHS Trusts transition healthcare estates away from fossil fuels. By pairing heat decarbonisation with commercial solar and battery storage, trusts can modernise aging infrastructure, satisfy strict NHS Net Zero mandates, and lock in long-term energy resilience.
Under targeted green rate reliefs, rooftop solar panels and microgeneration battery storage installed on commercial properties are 100% exempt from business rates valuations until 31 March 2035. This statutory exemption ensures that large-scale solar installations do not trigger an increase in a site’s rateable value, allowing healthcare providers and private hospital operators to maximise their return on investment throughout the core payback period without incurring additional property tax liabilities.
Private healthcare providers and independent hospital groups can deduct 100% of the cost of eligible solar PV and energy storage installations from taxable profits in year one via the Annual Investment Allowance (AIA), capped at £1 million annually. For companies paying the main corporation tax rate of 25%, this tax shield effectively lowers the net installation cost by a quarter, accelerating simple payback periods to roughly 4–5 years. For larger health estates spending beyond the £1 million AIA limit, remaining capital expenditure qualifies for the 50% First Year Allowance, maximising immediate cash flow relief while supporting corporate ESG targets.
