Capital Expenditure (Capex)
What it is: Your business pays the total cost of the hardware, groundworks, and electrical installation upfront.

“Fully Funded” or CPO Model (The EV equivalent of a PPA)
What it is: A Charge Point Operator (CPO) pays for everything, installation, maintenance, and electricity, in exchange for a long-term lease on your parking spaces.
- Benefits: Zero upfront cost and zero maintenance responsibility. The provider recoups their investment by charging drivers (employees or the public) a fee per kWh.
- Example: A retail park or hotel allows a provider like BP Pulse or InstaVolt to install “Rapid” chargers. The business pays nothing, while the provider manages the billing and hardware, sometimes offering the landowner a small “ground rent” or a percentage of the revenue.
Asset Finance / Leasing
What it is: You spread the cost of the charging equipment over 3–7 years via a lease or hire purchase agreement.
