Electric Vehicle charging grants for businesses
If your business requires a grant to help you fund an EV charging station for your employees or your own fleet of vehicles, there are two schemes available until 31 March 2025.

Electric vehicle infrastructure grant for staff and fleets
This scheme provides a grant towards the cost for SMEs to install electric vehicle (EV) chargepoints and supporting infrastructure for their staff and fleet vehicles.
Workplace Charging Scheme
This grant provides up to 75% of the cost to install up to 40 EV charge points.
Types of EV chargers for your business

The type of charger you will need is dependent on the number of vehicles that you would like to charge and how long your ideal charging periods will be.
If you are providing charge points for your team or customers to charge whilst they are onsite for long periods of time, you may not need to opt for fast charge facilities. If you need vehicles to receive a full charge on a short time frame as possible then fast charging, high-voltage facilities will be needed.
If your business requires multiple EV chargers of high-voltage facilities, you may need your District Network Operating to upgrade your grid connection. We can advise on and support your through this process.
Typical tariffs for EV chargers
Business rates are very different from what are available for domestic customers, and often the same low-rate options are not available. Some companies with vast consumption will be eligible for much lower unit rates, but their night rates could easily be double what a homeowner is eligible for.
Businesses that do have EVs can switch to Time-Of-Use tariffs which reduce their unit price in the evenings and overnight. As most offices are closed during this time, this will not benefit most companies, aside from 24/7 manufacturing facilities. Solar and batteries are a good way for customers with EV fleets to lower their charging costs, and a cleaner alternative to pulling from the grid as well.

Installation process
Get an expert consultation
Our surveyors will start by attending your property to carry out a full survey to assess your requirements, agree locations and document your current electrical installation. This will all be recorded with photo evidence where required.
Our proposal
You will receive a fully costed proposal based on our survey findings outlining the best solution for your business and all of our proposed works.
If we believe that your installation will require upgrade works we will make contact with your DNO.
Planning & permissions
Once you have chosen to go ahead we will start planning your installation.
Dates will be agreed and a schedule or works produced that will provide details of access requirements, deliveries and time frames. you will also receive copies of our RAMS.
Installation and commissioning
Work will commence as agreed, if groundworks are required we’ll provide a fully qualified team and any necessary fencing to cordon off the area to keep it safe.
Once your chargers are installed we will provide a full handover which will include applying your choice of settings.

Pairing your EV charging system with solar panels
Charging an EV, or multiple EVs, will increase your energy usage and an existing or a new solar PV installation will help you manage the increase in energy cost. A huge benefit of pairing your EV charging system with solar panels is that you can essentially charge for free from your solar PV System. Charging with energy generated from the sun is also greener than from the grid.
The amount saved on energy bills and tariffs is entirely dependent on your individual circumstances. We can help you understand the cost savings associated with a solar PV installation by understanding your usage, how often and how many vehicles you are looking to charge, your current energy tariffs and the size of the solar PV system that was in place or under consideration.

Do I need to contact DNO regarding my charger?
You will only need to contact DNO to upgrade your connection if you are looking to purchase multiple chargers or high powered fast chargers. We are happy to advise you and take on liaising with your DNO.
Do I need to install a fast charger?
This will depend on how long you are planning to charge your vehicles for. If you only have a short time to charge, we recommend you purchase a fast charger.
Do Geo Green Power provide any aftercare for your charging system?
Geo Green Power provide thorough aftercare following the installation of an EV charging station. We remain on hand for any questions you may have following your system’s installation and throughout the lifetime of the product.
How long does an installation take?
A single charepoint can be installed in less than half a day. Larger and more complicated systems will take longer.
